Adequacy of Access and Collector Roads National Route N°12
Completion: June 2022
Location: San Nicolas Misiones (Argentina)
Client: DPV - DNV
With the need to order and provide greater safety to the entrance and exit to the town, to the Bus Terminal, and to the users of the RN Nº12 who wish to make a left turn and return maneuvers, it was decided to make an intersection in such a way that it orders the returns and collectors.
It was proposed to induce a reduction in the speed of vehicles traveling on the road by means of traffic islands and chicanes made of thermoplastic paint, with reflective studs and signage support, which generate a single lane that makes a smooth "S" and causes a reduction in speed.
Other actions:
* The left turn from the main roadway was eliminated. * An over-width was created with an access branch that allows deceleration and access to the right collector. * A deceleration lane and an access branch were built leading to an additional lane parallel to the collector road. * Markings with thermoplastic paint and reflective strips were made on the entrance to order the exit from Sarmiento Avenue and the entrance to it from NR Nº12. * Pedestrian paths were painted near the terminal and at the main intersection. * Necessary works such as repair and construction of curbs and gutters, speed bumps and storm drains, recovery of gauges and repaving to favor vehicular circulation and optimize drains in the roadway, lighting of intersections, horizontal and vertical signaling were also carried out.
