Sanitation of the Riachuelo

The Riachuelo System is a major urban infrastructure project that provides a comprehensive solution to the current limitations in the transport capacity of the sewage drainage service, improving the quality of the service and promoting the cleanup of the Riachuelo in terms of sewage effluent contamination.

Inlet Lifting Station: This work will make it possible for the sewage liquids conveyed by the Baja Costanera Collector Diversion to be elevated in such a way as to allow the entire process to be carried out in the Pretreatment Plant by means of gravity runoff.

Riachuelo Pretreatment Plant: This Plant will treat the sewage effluents transported by the Left Bank Collector and the Baja Costanera Collector Diversion, to allow their subsequent disposal in the waters of the Río de la Plata through the outfall to complete the self-purification process.

Outlet Pumping Station: This work will pump the pre-treated effluents to a loading chamber, giving the liquids the necessary head to enable their runoff through the subfluvial outfall and their diffusion into the waters of the receiving body.
