Client: Provincial Directorate of Roads of Corrientes.
The present work arises as a consequence of the need to adapt the missing section of the project, elaborated by the department in 2004 and modified in 2015, to the new traffic and deterioration conditions in the section between the intersection of National Route No. 119 and Provincial Route No. 24 in its first eight kilometers, joining and adapting with the other section, currently under construction (Pr. 8,000.00 - junction R.P. No. 23).
The current roadway, at the beginning of 2016, shows a high degree of cracking, typical of the aging of the asphalt layers and the stiffness of the calcareous bases. There are areas where the asphalt layers have collapsed, forming deep potholes, now filled with soil. The predominant cracks are of the mesh type, called "crocodile skin", generally open, more than 3 mm wide.
According to internationally accepted deterioration models, the current road condition is in the "accelerated deterioration and cracking" zone.the current road condition is in the "accelerated deterioration and failure" zone.
The original structural reinforcement is based on the criterion of increasing the thickness of the asphalt concrete layer according to the needs defined by the traffic. The existing structure was widened with selected soil, building a base of 8 cm of asphaltic concrete, then a base of 5 cm of asphaltic concrete on top of the previous one and a 4 cm thick asphaltic concrete wearing course.
